I am a one-person law firm, and if I manned the phones all day, I’d never get anything done. So, to help as many veterans as I can and to let veterans know if I will be able to help them as fast as I can, I’ve set up the following process:
Step 1: The first thing I ask everyone to do is fill out the form you can find through this link: https://walshvetlaw.cliogrow.com/intake/f0e7a94674285314048d8f9f0a62001d
Step 2: After you fill out that form, I’ll review it, hopefully in three to five business days, and get back to you. If I think I might be able to help, I’ll set up a phone call with you. If I know I can’t help you, I’ll let you know that too. There are some cases where I know right away that I won’t be able to help someone. And there are others where I think I might be able to help, but I’m so busy I’ll never get to it.
Step 3: If, after our phone call, I still think I might be able to help you, I’ll get a bit more information from you. Then, we’ll fill out VA Form 21-22a and file that form with the VA, and then I’ll be able to access your entire VA claims file. Also known as your c-file. After I review your C-file, I’ll know for sure whether I can help you or not. And I don’t charge anybody for anything I do up to this point.
Step 4: After I’ve reviewed your C-file, we’ll have another phone call where we talk about your claim and what I think I can do for you. If we both agree to keep working together, I’ll send you an engagement letter and fee agreement. That is a contract between us that explains what I’ll do for you and how much I’ll charge. Usually, a veteran will only pay me if I can help them win, and the amount is usually 20% of any lump sum payment of past-due benefits from the VA.
Finally, I want to say that I am extremely humbled by the number of veterans who have reached out to me through my website and YouTube videos and have asked me for help. You have all been keeping me extremely busy. I wish I could help more veterans, but I don’t want to take on so many cases that I start to get too slow or do shoddy work. So I am sorry if I am ultimately unable to help you. I wish I could directly help more veterans, but I am very grateful for the opportunity to help those that I can.
Where Else You Can Go For Help
If I’m unable to help you, or you just don’t want to work with me or wait for me, you have other options. Some of them are free.
All the major VSOs will help you for free. By VSOs, I mean the VFW, American Legion, Military Order of the Purple Heart, and similar organizations. Also, I think every state has its own VSOs that can help you. If you are looking for another lawyer to help you, the National Organization of Veterans Advocates is a great place to start. I am a member. It is a great organization of VA-accredited attorneys and agents that does great work for veterans and veteran advocates.
My best advice is to contact a few different VSOs and VA-accredited lawyers until you find one that you can establish a rapport with, someone who will work with you and be available to you throughout the process.
Please be very, very careful of working with any person or company who calls themselves a ‘claims consultant.’ If the person or company either can’t or won’t actually represent you in front of the VA, then you should proceed with caution. Also, be sure to ask if the person or company can access your C-file. If they can’t, they will be working with incomplete information. Your claim is too important to rely on somebody who is taking action with incomplete information and essentially shooting blind. And never give anyone your va.gov or similar log-in information. Reputable attorneys or VSOs won’t ever ask for it because they don’t need it. Disreputable companies ask you for it because that’s how they spy on you and take actions on your behalf while telling you and the VA that they don’t actually represent you, thereby playing all sides.
And no matter who helps you with your claim, you should look them up to make sure they are actually accredited by the VA, which you can do on this website. Feel free to go there and look me up.
Text Messaging Privacy Statement
If you fill out the form at the top of this page, I’ll ask your permission to text you. I do not send mass text messages or marketing-related text messages. I will only ever use text messaging to communicate directly with you about your VA claims. Additionally, do not share any information you provide to me with anyone for any marketing-related purpose. I only ever share information, including mobile information, when it is necessary for me to do so as a part of my representing you.
